West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Plan – Referendum

A date for the West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Plan Referendum has been set.  The referendum will take place on 19th April 2018.  A notice of the referendum is available here: Notice of Referendum

West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Plan – Independent Examiners Report

Taunton Deane Borough Council and the Parish Councils of West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine have received the Independent Examiner’s report on the West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Development Plan.  This has been published on the TDBC website at:

It won’t take long before the Referendum on WM and CF NP is called.

If you or anyone you know wish to vote in the referendum, you will need to be on the Electoral Roll of TDBC. If you aren’t on the electoral roll you’ll need to register. Maybe you are a new resident and haven’t yet registered?

You can register online: visit

Go to ‘Elections and Voting’, choose ‘Electoral Register’ then register to vote online (you’ll need your National Insurance Number, date of birth and full address details to have in order to register).

Or you can phone 01984635276 where the Electoral Services team (based at West Somerset Council offices) will be able provide a form to complete.

West Monkton and Cheddon Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Plan Submission Consultation

We have submitted our Neighbourhood Development Plan to Taunton Deane Borough Council.  In line with the regulations Taunton Deane Borough Council are inviting representations on the Plan and its supporting documents from statutory consultees and any interested parties.  The consultation runs from Thursday 3rd August till Friday 15th September 2017.  After this the NDP and its associated documents along with all representations will be passed to an Independent Examiner.  Details are available via the link below:

A new Bus Service has been launched for the local area. The Buses of Somerset have revised route 2 to extend it to cover the new housing development at Monkton Heathfield and Crown Industrial Estate. The route now provides a direct route between Monkton Heathfield and Taunton Railway Station and also between both the Priorswood and Monkton Heathfield areas and the Crown Medical Centre in Venture Way.

 The Parish Surgery involving County, District and Parish Councillors takes place every second Thursday in the Committee Room at Brittons Ash Community Centre from 8.30am until 10.30am. Clerks and Councillors will be happy to assist with any information or issues. The next Surgery is 13th July.
